Rarely do we allow ourselves to envision ideal future beyond self limiting beliefs. Doing so generates, according to research, the energy and the motivation that comes with new possibilities. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Begin to drop in by taking a deep breath and letting go of lingering thoughts from the day. If it's helpful, go ahead and close your eyes. In whatever position feels most comfortable to you, sitting straight up, standing, lying down, relax your body with the help of the breath. On the inhale, ground in the present. On the exhale, let go of lingering tension. Continue on your own for five breaths to clear your mind in preparation for dreaming big.
When you're ready, begin to think about your life in the future. Imagine that everything has gone as well as it possibly could. You have worked hard and you have succeeded in accomplishing all of your most important life goals. Think of this as the realization of all your life dreams. Imagine it in detail as if it's already your current reality. In this best possible future, what or who occupies your time, your thoughts and your feelings? Who are you surrounded by? Who are you not surrounded by? What environment are you in?
What projects are you working on, or what projects have you completed? And how does it feel to be in this place? If it feels available to you, go ahead and ask your future best self if they have any messages for you, something you need to hear right now. See if you can allow yourself to take any messages in and really let these sink in.
Remember, within you contains multitudes of potential. You are not summoning ghosts by doing this. Rather, you are simply getting in touch with your own inner potential that is not readily present on a daily basis. Each of us has a powerful source of inner wisdom, support and inspiration within us. Yet, we rarely activate these potentials. See if you can start getting in touch with that place right now.
